Thank you from the Edina Public Art Committee (a committee of the
Edina Art Center Board).
Art is the soul of our culture.
Public art in urban environments can be a unifying force because it
transforms our space into a more welcoming and beautiful environment that
invites interaction. It attracts attention, expresses community values and can
transform a city's image. An entire community's identity and unique character
can be defined by public art. In addition to its enriching personal benefits,
public art increases a community's assets and can boost real estate values and
create opportunities for local businesses to thrive.
Funding
The Edina Public Art Committee
received seed money from the City to jumpstart its projects, with additional funds
coming from corporate and private donors. Donations
to make this program possible may be made to the Edina Community Foundation, 952-833-9573.
Art adds richness to our environment, defines who we are, and creates a sense of
pride in our community with a tangible legacy that will last for generations!

Serve as a vehicle for public education in the visual arts.
Make recommendations for creative fund-raising mechanisms to public art
displays.
Promote economic development through the arts.
