Faribault man arrested for attempted kidnapping

Edina, Minn., April 15, 2009 -- At approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in two separate incidents, two 8-year-old girls walking in the Concord area of Edina were approached by a man in a car who asked them to get in and show him the way to Concord Elementary School. The girls each refused and ran home and told their parents.

A local teenage boy driving in the area at the time alerted an adult neighborhood resident to the suspicious vehicle and activity, and that resident was able to get the license plate and then called Edina police with the information.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. on April 14, police located and stopped the suspect in the same area. After questioning, police arrested Alex Jeffery Wolters, 21 years old, of Faribault, for attempted kidnapping and took him to HCADC for booking. The Hennepin County Attorney’s office is reviewing the case for charging.
