Edina’s Comprehensive Plan is a planning tool used to guide development
and redevelopment. A requirement for all communities from the Metropolitan
Council, the Comprehensive Plan considers goals, policies and objectives to
assist decision makers in planning for the future.
Edina prides itself in being a community that recognizes the importance of
its past while preparing itself for the future – with that mindset, the
Comprehensive Plan includes a chapter on Heritage Preservation (chapter 6).
This chapter clarifies the current state of the heritage preservation
program in the city, and goes on to focus on trends and challenges; goals
and policies; and lastly implementation of the preservation program.
